That or F150s count Raptors in order to fall asleep. Silly question, can you swap the body of one truck onto the frame of another? Is that a thing? Could you mix makes and model years?

The answer, as so often is the case, is “it depends”. Frame width has to be pretty similar, frame contours (if any) have to be pretty close, and the frame or body has to allow for the relocation of bushing locations, if necessary. Very often, older trucks were quite compatible indeed. I have also seen a mid 90s Chevy bed on a Ford or vice versa - not sure what all was involved, as it was an at-a-distance “WTF?”. It’s also quite common to put antique shortbeds on Chevy C-10 frames or Blazer frames or S-10 frames or whatever.

In other words, it all comes down to research.

All depends on what you want to put onto what, but usually the answer is not without a ton of work. You would be surprised at how much automakers carry over though, for example GM trucks have close to the same layout from ‘99-’14. It may not be the same exact frame, but the body mounts are in the same place, the frame horns are similar, the rocker panels/floor pan are nearly identical etc.

Small point of order, but it’s the King Ranch, not the “King’s Ranch.”

The King Ranch is the largest still-operating ranch in Texas, but it’s not a land grant ranch. It was founded by a man whose last name was “King.” It’s hundreds of thousands of acres, spanning six counties, that was cobbled together from several Spanish land grant ranches.

And the Flying W brand symbol on King Ranch edition trucks? That’s legitimately the King Ranch brand used for livestock and other things.

I actually meant that as a pun for the picture but this has been one of the most informative bits of info I have seen in weeks. Seriously, thank you! Super cool!!

I saw my first new Raptor in the wild today - a grey/silver king cab. They are good looking in person. It sounded nice but no different than any other good sounding v6.

Kinda, lots of stuff is interchanged and reused but it’s not like you can pick and choose any body or chassis from x manufacturer or even x model and change it as you will. Mixing makes is a whole nother can of worms, but I guess just about anything can be done if you have enough fabrication and engineering skills

Tangentially related - I have a V6 F150 as a beater whose engine is dying. Well, a swap is a swap, how hard can it be to toss out the old Essex and throw in the mod V8? Same trans and everything.

However, the “Internet” says it’s basically “unpossible”. So who knows.

Mixing model years can be pretty easy. Mixing makes, not as easy.
